Food and drink businesses which supply to major grocery retailers have an opportunity to tell the Groceries Code Adjudicator whether they are being treated fairly and lawfully in an annual survey of the sector.
Now in its sixth year, the survey remains open until the 23 April, and plays a vital role in the GCA’s work in policing the behaviour of retailers and assessing whether they are complying with the Groceries Code. It also provides invaluable feedback on issues faced by suppliers and information about what retailers need to address. This year the survey will also cover Ocado and B&M, who both now fall under the jurisdiction of the Code.
Adjudicator, Christine Tacon, who is responsible for regulating the relationship between supermarkets and their direct suppliers, is appealing to grocery suppliers of all sizes and in all sectors to complete the survey with their own experiences. This can be done online at: www.gov.uk/government/news/now-open-2019-groceries-sector-survey
It sheds strong light on the behaviour of the retailers and tells me how well they are complying with the Code. I use the information I receive to help identify top issues and to decide where to focus my discussions with the businesses I regulate.
