In today's market good reviews on sites such as TripAdvisor are an essential way of driving business to your outlet. It is a fact of life that not every review will be positive even at the best of establishments. However, the real problem for operators is the "fake" review. TripAdvisor has announced that its fraud detection system prevented the publication of over 1 million fake reviews last year. Good news, but fraudulent reviews still slip through the net and it can take time for TripAdvisor to investigate and remove them. In a recent article Freeths recommend that if a customer threatens to give a bad review if you don't give them a discount or a refund that you contact the site immediately as they will look out for the review and may be able to prevent publication. Protect your hospitality outlet from bad online reviews.
Review site TripAdvisor has claimed it stopped more than 1m fake review from reaching the platform in 2018 and said it is “far from complacent” dealing with fraud detection.
